Mulberry BBQ Sauce Recipe

Overview: This unique BBQ sauce uses mulberry jam as a base, creating a sweet and tangy flavor that’s perfect for grilling or roasting meats. It’s especially good with pork, as tried with fresh mulberries from Habitera Farms.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Mulberry Jam
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Combine Ingredients:

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the mulberry jam, chopped cherry tomatoes, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.

2. Simmer the Sauce:

  • Mix well and heat over medium. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.

3. Adjust the Flavor:

  • Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Add more brown sugar for sweetness, or more vinegar for acidity.

4. Thicken the Sauce:

  • Let it simmer for about 15 minutes, or until it reaches your desired consistency. It should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon.

5. Cool and Store:

  • Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate.

Usage:

  • Use the sauce as a glaze for grilled meats or as a dipping sauce. The combination of mulberries and cherry tomatoes offers a distinctive flavor.
